- Must have been licensed as a registered nurse for at least 18 months;
- Previous experience caring for an individual with mental retardation and developmental disabilities; and
- Completion/certification via the Train the Trainer class approved by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities
In addition to nurses becoming certified through this course, administrators, SSAs and other staff in county boards and agencies may take the course to understand the statutory and regulatory requirements related to Medication Administration.
This training has been approved for nursing continuing education including the Ohio Board of Nursing licensure requirement of 1 hour of law and rule review required for each licensure period. In addition, the training has been approved for County Board Continuing Education for the following categories: Adult Services/Day Habilitation, Investigative Agent, Service and Support Administration, Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent (Services/Programs/Supports Stream) and County Board Members.

Individuals wishing to understand the laws and regulations related to Medication Administration, i.e., administrators of agencies, residential providers, licensed practical nurses and staff from any county board of developmental disabilities, will want to attend Day One of the schedule.
